Uffe Iwersen grew up in a small village between Tønder and Tinglev and belongs to the German minority in Denmark. Today he works as a cultural consultant in North Schleswig. He talks about how formative experiences, language and commitment have shaped his life as part of a minority.
For Uffe Iwersen, life in the German minority in Denmark is not a label, but experience. Having grown up in Bylderup-Bov, he now works at Haus Nordschleswig - the center of cultural work, as a cultural consultant for the umbrella organization of the German minority - the Bund Deutscher Nordschleswiger (BDN). What he describes is more than organization. It is living history.
